Performance at Knollwood Preschool

We’ve been at it again. Another visit to a preschool. This time – Knollwood. I’ve attached a clip of a version of Pancakes I play on the banjo – there is some good clapping from the kids during the song.

Performance at Agudas Achim Preschool

Soundzania has been visiting more local preschools and having a good time! The kids love the music, get to clap along and shout some animal names out. Along the way, I share my instruments – stand-up bass, guitar, banjo, ukelele, accordian, tenor saxophone and the kazoo.
I am sharing a video clip here of the stand-up bass section… the kids are laughing at the sound of the bass (unless its me 🙂

Rain PSA played on HFVS Watercycle show

The other week, the Hilltown Family Variety Show aired a special “Watercycle” show. Here is a link to check it out. They picked the “Rain” PSA from the Soundzania CD as part of the show. I think thats nice and appropriate… the PSA tried to describe the watercycle in less than 30 seconds 🙂

Soundzania on the radio

Google just told me we were played on the radio – Valley Free Radio to be exact. Thats very nice to know your music is played for a large audience to hear. I think it was played by a guest DJ who was part of Hilltown Families who just ran their first ever t-shirt contest. So, Sienna, thanks for the play !

The playlist that Sienna hosted is chock full of some excellent kids music. Look some of these bands up, they have some very fun music for everyone.

Responses to the Giveaway

Well, Stephanie at Adventures in Baby Wearing did a nice job on the contest, Thanks Stephanie ! Several of her friends joined in and listened to Soundzania and gave their perspectives. Here are a few:

The Making of Soundzania

Just thought we should post a little story about how exactly Soundzania came to be. So, take a little read:

Motivation came easily to the three dads that created the musical world of Soundzania. Two years after band-mates Scott Flory, Ken Hougasian, and Lee Parker gave up the late nights and smoky-club lifestyle of a rock band, all three began enjoying the late nights and smelly-diaper lifestyle of fatherhood.

Independently, Scott, Ken and Lee each lovingly created music to make their kids smile (or, in some cases, sleep). After rave reviews from their own children, they set out to create Soundzania. With help from musician friends and engineers, each song on the album was transformed from a private lazy-morning guitar sing-along or quiet bedside lullaby into a musical world filled with banjos, kazoos, mandolins, and even a sousaphone.

Every song has been tested for silliness, smiles, and nap-worthiness by the band’s collective children: Julia, Alex, Max, Sam, Claire, Hannah, Nora, and Owen.

The band hopes this album will bring giggles and snoozes to your family as well.

In preparation for the release of the Soundzania CD, we were able to get a little interview done on the air. WDAY in Fargo, ND was nice enough to have us on for a little exposure during their morning program.

Thanks WDAY !
